We’re excited to announce the release of firmware update MR2. 0 for the NETGEAR Orbi Whole Home WiFi System. In this firmware upgrade, you can now “daisy chain” your Orbi satellites together, to extend the coverage of your Orbi WiFi System range.
It is incredibly frustrating when your Orbi router suddenly stops providing your home with a stable internet connection. Whether it’s in the middle of the day or late at night, the feeling of suddenly being cut off from the web can be extremely exasperating. Although it can be easy to feel hopeless when your internet randomly disconnects, there are steps that you can take to try and get it working again.
Troubleshooting Steps
Reset Orbi Router: The first step you should always try to fix a sudden disconnection is to reset your Orbi router. To do this, you should remove your power cable from the rear of the Orbi router and leave it disconnected for at least one minute. Then, simply reconnect the power cable and let the router boot up again. It normally takes a minute or two for the reset to take effect.
Check Physical Connection: If a reset does not help, the next step is to check the physical connection between your computer and the Orbi router. Make sure that the cables are firmly connected at both ends and that your computer is not too far away from the router. You may also want to try a different port on your Orbi router to see if there is an issue with the connection.
Reinstall Firmware: The last troubleshooting step you should take is to reinstall the firmware on your Orbi router. This is a more technical step and you should take care when following the instructions to make sure that you do not make any mistakes. Alternatively, you could attempt to upgrade the firmware if the version is out of date, although this can occasionally have unexpected results.
If none of these steps help to fix your connection issue then you may need to contact your ISP for further assistance. It may be that there is an issue with their network in your area or with the line to your house. OR, it could be that you need to upgrade your equipment or subscription. Whatever it is, they should be able to provide you with some advice on how to proceed.
